"Training is everything. The peach was once a bitter almond; the cauliflower is nothing but cabbage with a college education." -Mark Twain Quote

Private Tutoring

Many students benefit from private sessions when preparing for the SAT and ACT. Many students choose to supplement workshops with private sessions; others prefer to prepare only through private sessions. Much depends on the student’s situation: schedule, time frame, diagnostic score. As always, feel free to call Cristin at (858) 458-5930 to discuss your situation and options.

Initial Session: $125 (90 minutes)
Regular Sessions: $95/session (55-70 minutes)

SAT and ACT Workshops

Each SAT or ACT workshop consists of the following elements: 14-hrs. of group instruction (including one proctored exam), all of which can be completed in one month, leaving a few weeks for students to supplement with individual sessions as needed. All workshops are kept very small (4-6 students/group). Classes are held at Cristin’s home in La Jolla (near UCSD). Practice tests will be at the Sheraton in La Jolla.

After taking the first "real" exam, a student may choose to continue preparing in a small group setting or switch to private tutoring. Students with a shorter time frame to prepare will always be advised to do a group class (in which we can cover more material in each session).

To reserve your student a space in a workshop, please e-mail Cristin or call her at (858) 458-5930.

Fee: $449

Please Note: We are a "cat-friendly" home. Although Coffee and Bean do not participate in the private sessions or workshops, those who suffer from allergies might not be so comfortable.

College Applications & Essays

Fees vary depending on the student's situation. Typically, I prefer to meet with the students one-on-one in the beginning to review the applications and determine the essay topics. After that, much of our work is done on-line with students sending drafts of the applications and essays, which keeps the fees more reasonable. Because I only work with 6-8 students each year, please let me know ahead of time if you would like to reserve a spot. Our work together begins the summer before Senior Year.

Private Sessions: $75
Editing / Review: $45/hr
